《Sejong Korean: English Edition》는 세종학당 표준 교육과정인 초급[1A~2B]의 기본 교재 4권을 영어로 번역하여 병기했습니다. 어휘와 표현 색인에서도 한국어를 영어로, 영어를 한국어로 각각 병기하여 편리와 효율성을 높였습니다.

국립국어원이 11년 만에 전면 개정한 《세종한국어》는 세계 곳곳에서 한국어와 한국 문화를 배우는 학습자들을 위한 표준 교재다. 2019년부터 4년간 공을 들여 새롭게 내놓은 《세종한국어》는 세계 곳곳에 있는 세종학당의 현지 학습환경에 따라 유연하게 활용될 수 있는 맞춤형 교재로 정비했다. 또 최근 한류 콘텐츠에 대한 외국인 학습자들의 관심을 내용에 반영해 한국어 학습 열의를 북돋울 수 있도록 제작했다.

《세종한국어》는 2020년 고시된 ‘표준한국어교육과정’과 어문 규범을 철저하게 준용하고 다문화 다양성 및 성 인지 감수성을 고려함으로써 국가를 대표하는 교재로서의 품격을 갖추었다. 아울러 어휘·문법 설명과 일상생활 의사소통 예문을 강화하고, 연습 활동을 보강해 학습자가 내용을 꼼꼼하게 익힐 수 있도록 했다.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the National Institute of Korean Language decided to revise Sejong Korean, first published in 2011, to strengthen the groundwork of Korean language education. For the revising work of the textbook, the primary research started in 2019, and after three years of work, the new Sejong Korean was finally published.

Sejong Korean aims to enable learners to improve their communication skills in Korean by motivating their interest in learning the Korean language based on cross-cultural communication. Thus, the content of this book reflects the current social situations in Korea, and the new format and design introduce the latest teaching methods. We tried to present a new direction for overseas Korean language education.

Book contents:

* Student book — contains the core content required for each level
* Extension activity book — provides a variety of communication activities that require in-depth expansion of language knowledge
* Supplementary — workbooks, teacher’s guides, vocabulary and grammar books, and class PPTs along with textbooks that instructors and learners can use for their needs
* Various illustrations and visual materials — motivate a learner’s interest in learning Korean
* Vivid Korean cultural content — Korean movies, Korean drama, Korean food, Korean fashion, etc.
